With the weather getting worse, I wanted to issue a statement regarding our jazz rehearsals and sectionals. Please use your best judgment, and do not drive if you cannot get here safely. Instead, have a parent call my office phone (822.6827) or e-mail me (kjwhite@pulaski.k12.wi.us) to inform me that the student will not be attending. Otherwise, the student will receive an unexcused absence. This is the same policy used with any absence, regardless of weather. Please make sure your students are attending sectionals and rehearsals regularly, and inform me of any excused absences. I prefer phone or e-mail before rehearsal to a written note so I can know immediately and plan rehearsals accordingly. If we're missing certain parts, it changes the dynamic of the rehearsal.
Red Raider Jazz: I'm changing the calling tree procedure: In case of cancellation, I will call one member from each section and then those four people can call their section. This will be faster and more reliable than the original way I conceived. Have your phone on and loud! In the event of a delay, we will still have rehearsal 1 hour before the start of school, but everyone who drives back roads to school will be excused. Bottom line: BE SAFE!
Jazz II and III: In the case of bad weather on Monday evening, I will have the office make an announcement during 7th hour class and I will also have Tyra Smith (our webmaster) post something on the website and send an e-mail. Plan to attend sectionals if school is running as scheduled. However, please use your judgment and do not drive if you feel it is unsafe. Please contact me promptly if you decide it is unsafe to drive. Bottom line: BE SAFE!
